Having two little Jack Russell’s of my own, I am very supportive of family photos with dogs. Our pets are part of the family, and for most people they are their first babies.
Our studio photography sessions all welcome your four-legged best friend.
What to bring for your family photos with dogs.
On the day of your photoshoot I recommend switching up your pets collar to a neutral colour if they usually wear a colourful one. One that is black, brown, tan or grey, as colourful colours can be quite distracting in your photos.
I also recommended to remove any colourful tags from their collar (like their council tag) just for the duration of the session.
Doggie treats and their favourite squeaky toy to grab their attention is also helpful for the times that we want them looking at the camera.
Your dog/s knowing basic commands, such as sit, drop etc, do help with the more posed (puppies looking at camera) images. But if they are untrained it is also no big deal. As more candid moments with your dog/s interacting with you are so very beautiful.
When your session includes your dog/s, you will of course still have plenty of moments that are of just you and your children, and of course individual images of your children.
